How To Get Started
Most motorcycle riders have
gone to the Loch Lomond races at one point or another and loved them
- the atmosphere, the people, and of course, the races. Eventually these
people get the urge to put their own skills to the test and want to
compete against other riders. It’s pretty simple to get started, whether
you want to practice every week or just come from away and race.
Membership
- The first thing
you need to do is acquire a membership, which can be purchased from
Gord's Sports Centre Racing LTD. on 44 Reeves Street in Sydney next
to the old Canadian Tire or call Avery MacDonald at 902-561-1082. Membership
is $100 per person and an additional $25 for each family member. You must sign a waiver
when purchasing the membership.
Weekly
Practice
- Once you receive
a key to the Loch Lomond Motocross track gate, you will be allowed to
practice every Wednesday and Sunday from noon to dark. You must sign in when you enter the track. The sign in sheet is located inside the blue van by the track entrance. Please make sure the gate is locked at all times! The track opens mid-May and closes mid-November.
Gear
- Some people wonder
what they need to wear for gear when going to Loch Lomond.
- Helmet
- Boots with ankle
protection
- Goggles
- Tether Cord (for
ATV)
- Nerf Bars (for ATV)
Race Day
- You do not need
a membership to race on scheduled race days. You are required to pay
a fee of $5 per person to get through the gate, racer or spectator.
The cost of entering a class is $20.
For example: if you only
want to race one class that day, you will have to pay $25 ($20.00 one
class, plus $5.00gate fee). If you want to race two classes that day,
you are required to pay $45, two classes plus gate fee.
